Various sketchbook doodles and musings

I spend a fair amount of downtime in Procreate trying out new styles of illustration and generally trying to figure out how the people who inspire me do what they do. I’ve learned so much from experimenting with brushes and textures to be able to replicate some of my favourite subjects.

Dad’s Band

My Dad and his mates have a band in Spain. I came up with a logo, poster and merch for the groupies. Rock retires on fire!

Woody typeface

I had been looking for a typeface that I felt had some of my character – something that represented my love of note books, sketching and general scribbling.

Nothing ever really fit the bill, so I decided to make my own. I wanted it to be playful yet functional. The result is a single weight, full character suite that covers most western European languages. The characters were formed using old school calligraphic dip pen and archival ink. Ligatures were also developed to improve legibility and aesthetics.
